What is Hyperledger Fabric?
The Hyperledger Foundation is an industry association tasked with developing enterprise managed blockchain solutions. That means that unlike protocols like Bitcoin or Ethereum, Hyperledger projects are designed for traditional businesses trying to improve internal data integrity, collaboration and bring IT cost down in the long run.
The first project to emerge from the Foundation is Hyperledger Fabric, a managed blockchain protocol that brings decentralisation and cryptographic improvements to systems that power businesses, large and small.

As you can imagine, someone needs to do the actual coding when companies move to experiment and replace their legacy systems with blockchain implementations. By the way, you do not have to know Go before you start. If you do, that is of course an advantage but we will teach you enough Go so you can write chaincode.
How does the course work?
The course consists of 8 modules and is designed to be flexible and self-paced. You can choose your individual start date within your subscription period and study the material whenever it fits best into your daily routine. The estimated workload is about 8 to 12 hours per module.
At the moment you feel ready to start your exam, you can book your individual 5 weeks exam period and submit your final exam whenever you feel ready during this period.
The pass mark is fairly high and requires an average of 80% or more. In case of failure, it is possible to retake for a small fee. The certificate is publicly verifiable on the Ethereum blockchain.

What do I need to know before I start?
The course starts with the basics of blockchain so you do not need to know how it works.
But in order to get something out of the course you need to have programming experience, we recommend at least one year. Although the basics will be explained, some self-study of Golang can help prepare you for this training.

How about the content?
This course is designed to teach you everything you need to know even if you have no previous experience with blockchain technology. It covers basic blockchain theory, Hyperledger Fabric infrastructure, chaincode and enough Go to get you going.

The final exam consists of a project, which is split up into 4 parts. Some aim to highlight your understanding of the underlying concepts and others check your command of all the different tools. You need to achieve 80% or more of a total of 100 points to pass the exam. You will have 5 weeks to submit your final exam at the moment you start your individual exam period. The final exam is supposed to be an individual project, we expect course participants to not work together. During the exam time you have access to the course content and to the B9lab support team.
Teaching & Communication
The course is delivered through a mixture of reading material, videos, quizzes, various exercises, challenges & projects. In addition, students are invited to communicate and collaborate in a course dedicated Slack channel. Your expert instructors engage in active mentoring to guide you through the course and students are encouraged to help one another.

Murat Anil Oner
Anil joined the team after finishing his MSc in Biophysics at the TUM. He has worked with several programming languages and higher mathematics, and conduct research projects in ultra-high vacuum, electrotechnics and computer-based simulations. Anil has taken a stake in embedded and scientific programming, as well as cryptography.
Rob has worn many hats in his extensive IT career including experience designing, constructing, implementing and operating innovative software solutions, developing training programs and supporting online education platforms. Rob has been dabbling in blockchain technology since the early days and quickly recognised the disruptive potential of Smart Contracts and decentralised apps. Since 2016, Rob has been absorbing all things related to Smart Contracts and supporting developers on their quest to master this technology.
